History of VIIT:
Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) was founded in 2002 to impart
world class education in Information Technology, particularly to develop useful manpower with
enterpreneurship qualities for industry. It was inaugurated by Dr. Anil Kakodkar, the then Chairman
of ‘Atomic Energy Commission, Government of India’.It is a self financed institute is affiliated
to University of Pune.It is recognized and approved by the ‘All India Council for Technical
Education’ and by the Government of Maharashtra.The institute is spread over an area of more than
five acres.It is located at Kondhwa(Budruk), Pune on the eastern side of Pune-Satara Highway,
about eight kms from Swargate.The area , though not very far from the city , provides an atmosphere
free from maddening crowds.
Departments In VIIT:
VIIT was established in 2002 and runs undergraduate courses namely, E &TC Engineering,
Electronics, Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology,Mechanical Engineering
and Civil Engineering. The total strength of the students is around 1750.A separate Training
and Placement Cell is available for achieving all-round personality development of our students
and ensuring maximum placement for them. A separate Central Library is also available for our
students that is rich in Print and ‘E Form’. The Centre of Excellence for research & Development
(CERD) has been established to promote research culture amongst the faculty & students of VIIT
and to give a specific thrust to all the Research & Development and Consultancy activities being
undertaken at VIIT.

Our mission is to prepare competent engineers imbibed with the spirit of professionalism and
responsible citizenship,in a competitive global environment.To this end ,the institute is committed
to attain excellence in imparting quality technical education to equip the students with value added
skills, in confirmation with the current and future neeeds of the industry, along with values that
define professional conduct.
Achievements of College:
The college has established itself as one amongst the few top ranking engineering institutes
with excellent academic environment for providing high quality technical education in Pune region Within a short span of eight years, the college has produced several university rankers and two
students from Information Technology Department have topped the University Examinations. The college has also established an excellent rappot with various industries in and around Pune. Apart from ensuring academic development of the students,the college also undertakes several
professional,social and literary activities.
The college has established a strong group under ‘NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME’ for contributing towards the society.As part of this, the college has adopted a village ‘Jamgaon – Disli’ approximately 35 Km from Pune,near Mulshi, for various social development activities.As a result of the efforts taken by our students, the village Jamgaon has recently acquired the Status of ‘NIRMAL GRAM’ in January 2010
